Joseph Fincher is the founder of Hopes for Healing Counseling and Consulting, PLLC, a specialty psychotherapy practice dedicated to supporting adolescents (ages 15+) and adults navigating cancer, chronic illness, HIV, grief, and LGBTQIA+ experiences. His practice is built on the belief that emotional health is an essential component of whole-person healthcare and that every individual deserves compassionate, affirming, evidence-based support throughout life’s most challenging seasons.
Joseph specializes in the psychological impact of serious medical illness, helping clients cope with diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, caregiver stress, medical trauma, grief, and end-of-life concerns. He is equally committed to providing affirming care for LGBTQIA+ individuals, creating a therapeutic environment where every client’s identity, lived experience, and values are respected.

Therapeutic Philosophy
Joseph believes healing occurs when clients are offered a safe, collaborative space to explore both the challenges and strengths that shape their lives. His work integrates evidence-based psychotherapy with mindfulness practices and expressive approaches, including sandtray therapy when clinically appropriate, to help clients process complex emotions, foster resilience, and reconnect with meaning and purpose.
He values interdisciplinary collaboration and, with client authorization, partners with physicians, nurses, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to support coordinated, whole-person care.
“Hope is not the absence of hardship; it is the belief that healing, growth, and meaning remain possible even in life’s most difficult moments.”
