Mindfulness & Mindfulness Meditation FAQs

Who can Join?

We offer separate groups for clients, clinicians, and teachers. Each group is limited to 10-12 participants due to the size of our office. The number of sessions is dependent upon the number of interested participants.

How many sessions will be offered?

Mindfulness and mindfulness meditation are processes. With this being the case, this group will begin with 10-12 sessions. Keep in mind that we plan to offer multiple group opportunities, as needed and as interest presents.

Is there a fee?

Yes. We do charge a nominal $30.00 fee for each of our meditation sessions. This allows us to ensure the space needed for each of our participants. Session fees will be collected upon arrival. We accept cash or debit/credit cards only.

Does my insurance cover these groups?

At present, we do not accept insurance. With this in mind, we set our session fee (above) to make this group as accessible as possible.

What can I expect?

Each session will begin with a period of guided, focused breathing exercises. This will be followed by discussions of the application of mindfulness and specific techniques, ranging between 10 and 30 minutes. We will have time for questions and answers at the end of each session, as well. Generally speaking, plan for an approximately one and a half to two-hour session.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

If you like, please bring a yoga mat with you. This will help to provide a cushion between your feet/legs and the floor. We provide a meditation cushion for each of our participants, as well as offering limited furniture seating.

I would like more information about the leader for these session.

Joseph Fincher is a Licensed Professional Counseling - Associate and a Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher. In addition, he has practiced mindfulness meditation, personally, for over ten years. He will share some of the things he has learned from personal practice, as well provide multiple perspectives on 1) how meditation can be helpful, 2) different ways to meditation, and much, much more. You can also learn more about his clinical practice by clicking on the About tab, above.

Are all meditation sessions open to everyone?

We have separate sessions for clients, clinicians, teachers, and community members. Each of these groups come to mindfulness meditation with different needs. As such, we try to keep "birds of a feather" together.

What if I can't make it to every meditation session?

No worries. We understand that life happens. We ask that if you sign up for one of our mindfulness meditation sessions that you do communicate with us if you are not able to make it. We do not charge for sessions that you do not attend, so we ask for this communication in case others have been put on the waitlist.

Is the facility wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately, we do not have a ramp to the building to accommodate those relying on a wheelchair. Our office is located in one of the historic homes on Sul Ross Street, and a ramp has not been added by the property owner.

Do you provide accommodations for others with disabilities?

When possible, we do provide accommodations for others with disabilities. These include accommodations for those with sensory issues, sensitivity to certain smells, lighting levels, etc.

I have children. Can they participate in the meditation sessions?

Great question. This group is focused on care for adults. We may include a children's group in the future; however, our practice focus is on those 15 years and older.

Do I need to complete any forms to participate?

Excellent question. Yes, we do ask that you complete the intake forms that will be sent to you once you schedule a consultation session. Please be sure to provide signature for yourself and any minor children. We require these forms be complete for each participant.

These forms will be part of an intake/consultation session, as well, where you will meet with Joseph (in-person or virtually) to allow him the opportunity to learn more about what interests you about the group and identify any specific needs you may have. This also lets us align individuals with groups where they might receive the most benefit.

Do you offer any off-site groups?

At present, we do not have any off-site facilities; however, if you would like to bring this service to your business or school, please reach out to us by email to check on availability and fees.

Can you see Joseph as an individual client if I participate in the group?

Yes, this is a possibility. Speak with Joseph about your concerns and needs.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Joseph using our practice email at info@hopesforhealing.com.

We look forward to helping you on your journey.
